We’re not sure how far they got, but traditionally, this horrifying scene in Genesis 19:26 took place near the Dead Sea.
And if you didn’t grow up near a farm, or ever go hunting, or happen to observe at a zoo, a lot of animals are drawn to salt licks or mineral licks as a source of nutrition. So Moth’s disgusting reaction is really a natural instinct. At least that’s what we can tell ourselves.
